American lesbians reacted furiously Sunday after President Barack Obama made an unforced error in his Father's Day proclamation.
"Nurturing families come in many forms, and children may be raised by a father and mother, a single father, two fathers, a step father, a grandfather, or caring guardian," the proclamation stated.
What caught the eye of critics was the "two fathers" reference, which, presumably, refers to the rearing of children by two homosexual men in a relationship. There was no mention of "two mothers," which would describe the presumably less rare instance of two lesbian women rearing children. Women, you see, actually bear children, while men don't.
In response to the presidential slight, the newly formed Caucus to Neuter All Men, Including Presidents, reacted furiously.
"This is the thanks we get," muttered Sarah, aka "Hatchet Girl."
"We gave Obama 76.3 percent of our vote, and then he stiffs us...No pun intended."
When asked about the matter, Obama replied, "I have absolutely no problem with lesbians, whether they're raising children or raising hell. In fact, I think my white grandmother, in later life, was a lesbian."
"Here's how I would explain what happened here. To me, two lesbians raising one or more children is so commonplace nowadays that it no longer makes sense to take note ot it."
