No wonder Obama wanted to bail out teachers; they're Alinskyites

The National Education Association (NEA), the U.S.'s largest labor union, is promoting communism to the millions of American public school teachers it represents. Teachers who are influenced by their union's efforts are more likely to indoctrinate American children into communism.

For the past several months, the NEA website has recommended that its members read books by communist sympathizer Saul Alinsky. And, for a time, the website listed October 1 as a day for teachers and students to celebrate the anniversary of the Communist takeover of China by Mao Zedong.

Saul Alinsky, who has been described by his biographer Sanford Horwitt as a "Communist fellow-traveler," wanted to transfer power from the so-called Haves to the so-called Have-nots and transform the U.S. into a communist state.

In his book, Rules for Radicals, Alinsky states, "A Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists. From this he logically proceeds to the revolution to end capitalism, then into the third stage of reorganization into a new social order of the dictatorship of the proletariat, and finally the last stage-the political paradise of communism."

From coast to coast, news stories abound about communist indoctrination in U.S. schools. For example, the New York Times recently reported that a teacher working at Beacon High School in New York City had pictures of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro on the walls of his classroom, took students on a field trip to Cuba, and bluntly admitted to the school principal that he's a communist. And Fox News recently reported that students at Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley, California created a mosaic that included symbols of communism and a prediction that "capitalism will fail."


Students in California are sent home for wearing American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo while students around the country are allowed to wear T-shirts with images of Che Guevara, the communist revolutionary and mass murderer.

American children are not being taught that Alinsky's "paradise of communism" has never shown up. They are not learning that the world's greatest famines and mass murders have occurred under communist regimes.

And the NEA wants to keep it that way.

Mao admirer Anita Dunn and the big-spending teachers union will soon be persuading you how much you love Obamacare

What does diversity mean to you? Same-sex marriage? Building a giant mosque on the 9/11 spot in New York? Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court?

To the largest teachers union, the National Education Association (NEA), diversity means celebrating the anniversary of the Communist takeover of China by Mao Zedong. The NEA posted this on its website calendar as a diversity event for October 1.

Thankfully, we live in a wonderful era when parents, Tea Partiers, conservatives, and students can rapidly spread the news ignored by the mainstream media. After this activity suggestion for teachers was reported on WorldNetDaily, the Mao calendar item disappeared (without comment) from the NEA's website.

It's hard to make sense out of the fascination that liberals have with Mao, who is known to history as the champion murderer of all time. Barack Obama's communications czar, Anita Dunn, called him one of her two "favorite political philosophers."

We thought Dunn was thrown under the bus after that embarrassment became public, but now she's back with an assignment from the Obama Administration to convince the American people that we really like Obamacare after all.

Dunn is unlikely to succeed in this effort, but the NEA will still be working and spending political money to force national healthcare on us. That's just one of scores of leftwing policies approved at the NEA's annual convention in New Orleans this summer so that the NEA's highly paid staff can lobby for legislation the NEA wants and shovel out money to candidates who support NEA policies.

The NEA was the No. 1 big spender in federal and state political campaigns and ballot measures in the 2007-2008 election cycle, according to a comprehensive analysis compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics and the National Institute on Money in State Politics. The NEA spent $56.3 million, four times more than any other big-bucks donor.

The NEA's political contributions go 95% to Democratic candidates or to promote leftist ballot issues. Teachers, who pay hundreds of dollars in annual dues to national, state and local affiliates, have no control over the NEA's political advocacy or endorsement of candidates.

Teachers in 28 states risk losing their jobs if they refuse to join a union. Some employees are forced to pay dues even if they don't join a union.
