Michigan business leaders endorse Republican Snyder for governor after Democrat ally Andy Dillon loses primary election

A group of top executives from Michigan’s largest companies has endorsed Republican Rick Snyder for governor.

In a statement, Business Leaders for Michigan said Snyder’s views on job creation are aligned with the organization’s plan to turnaround Michigan’s economy, which includes reforming taxes, the state budget process and economic development policies.

“Mr. Snyder's track-record in finance, business and economic development along with his willingness to seek practical, collaborative solutions best positions him to turn around Michigan,” the Business Leaders statement said.

The group has 75 members on its board.

Ironically, the Business Leaders group had worked closely with House Speaker Andy Dillon, who lost the Democratic gubernatorial primary to Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. The group is also viewed by many as a political rival to the Michigan Chamber of Commerce.
